Day 1
Depart this morning on Air Canada for
Hamilton, Bermuda. Upon arrival, the group will
be met by representatives from Bermuda Hosts and assisted with the transfer
to their hotel. Check into the
Clearview Apartments and Suites or similar for the next 7 evenings. All units will have
fully equipped kitchenettes. The rest of the day is free to relax
from the trip and to get acquainted with the area.
Day 2
Today you will start to appreciate the uniqueness of this island. One of the
most isolated and beautiful places on earth, Bermuda is about 650 miles off the coast of
North Carolina, nearly 1,000 miles from the Bahamas and 3,000 miles from London, England.
Encore Sport Tours will provide extensive tourist information in
the planning stages of the tour.
Free day today to relax and to get acquainted with the area.

 |
Day 3
A free day today.
The group could take a walking tour through the streets of Hamilton -
one of the smallest but busiest port cities in the world. Take in many
historic points of interest, including the
Bermuda Cathedral, a weighty neo-Gothic building that is one of the
city's dominant landmarks. The
Bermuda Historical Society Museum, which contains models of the ill-fated
Sea Venture; and the
Bermuda National Gallery,
containing works by Thomas Gainsborough,
Joshua Reynolds and Winslow Homer.
The team will play
its first soccer game today against a local team.
|
Day 4
Perhaps visit
Fort Hamilton today. A substantial hilltop fort with a bird's-eye
view of Hamilton Harbour. It is one of a series of fortifications erected
in the mid-19th century during a period of rising tensions between Britain
and the USA. The ramparts are mounted with 10-inch rifled muzzleloader
guns capable of firing 400-pound cannonballs through iron-hulled vessels.
These devastating weapons were fortunately, never required.
There
will be a complimentary cruise today from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
Lunch is provided and there will be entertainment on board.
|
|
Day 5
Perhaps visit the South
Shore Park. This one and a half mile long coastal reserve protects
some of Bermuda's finest beaches. A coastal trail runs through the park,
linking a series of coves and bays divided by outcrops of craggy rocks.
There are 12 beaches in total, ranging from medium-sized half-moon bays
like Horseshoe Bay to postage stamp sized inlets like Peel Rock Cove.
The team
will play its second
soccer game today.

|
Day 6
A free day today. Perhaps visit the
town of
St. George, Bermuda's first capital and still one of the most fascinating
sightseeing areas. Wednesday is a good day to visit St. George because
the
Old State House
and the Old Rectory are open to the public and the
Bermuda Biological Station gives guided tours of its facilities. While
in St. George why not visit
St. Peter's Church, this thatch and wood structure was one of the
oldest Anglican churches in the Western Hemisphere. The present structure
dating from the early 1700's is a fine building with open timber beams,
marble memorials honouring early governors and a mahogany altar that's
the oldest piece of Bermudian furniture on the Island.
|
|
Day 7
Today might be a good day to visit the
Royal Naval Dockyard. The fort is built of limestone blocks in the
Georgian style, and was first used by the British navy as a
base to launch
their raid on Washington DC in 1814. It later served as a North Atlantic
base during both World Wars but was abandoned as a costly outpost in 1951.
The dockyard has now been renovated and includes the
Bermuda Maritime Museum, located in the forts former keep, a movie
theatre, a craft market and the Bermuda Snorkel Park.
The
team will play its third
soccer game
today.
